York Against Cancer

On behalf of Pavers colleague Russ Hampshire, the Pavers Foundation donated £1,000 to  York Against Cancer.

York Against Cancer has been providing support to cancer sufferers and their loved ones for the last 38 years. Russ experienced the generous and invaluable support from the York Against Cancer team while his wife, Hannah, underwent cancer treatment and received specialised support through York Against Cancer’s Leveson Centre. The centre is described by Russ as a ‘warm, safe and welcoming space to connect with others who are also facing a cancer diagnosis’. The support doesn’t stop at those with a diagnosis, Hannah and Russ’ son Ellis was able to receive adolescence counselling, which Russ said, ‘was a tremendous help to him during this difficult time’.

Alice Freeman-Cuerden, York Against Cancers Marketing Officer, told us that a donation of £1,000 could help to provide 2 full weeks of the free minibus service, helping patients get to their hospital appointments. Hannah said, ‘Thank you so much to the Pavers Foundation for this incredible donation’ adding ‘this important service helps to take the worries of lifts, fuel, and parking costs away and helps to make the journey to the hospital a pleasant one’.
