Marth’s Pantry, a community led organisation tackling food poverty in the Falkirk area, has received a £1,000 donation from The Pavers Foundation. Karen Maichan, a colleague of Pavers Shoes Polmont was the successful applicant who applied for the grant through The Pavers Foundation.
Martha’s Pantry is not a foodbank, it allows service users to select their own fresh food, personal care and cleaning products for a small nominal fee. The organisation currently supports around 126 households in the Falkirk area, with the aims of reducing food poverty while preserving the user’s dignity and ability to make decisions about the products they receive.
Chairman of the organisation, Reverend Monica MacDonald says “We are blown over in thankfulness by this fabulous donation. This money will help us to buy fresh produce for our service-users and forms an important part of our service to ensure that fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese, eggs, milk is available each week during our walk-in service.”
The amazing work of Martha’s pantry is well known by the team at Polmont Pavers and Karen said, ‘We as a team think that Martha’s will benefit greatly from a donation. It is going to make a big difference.’
