Harrogate Hospital and Community Charity (HHCC) has received a £500 donation from the Pavers Foundation, the donation on behalf of Angela Smith, a Pavers colleague who applied for a grant through the employee-led, charitable giving scheme.
HHCC aims to help fund specialist equipment, training and services to aid in enhancing the treatment and facilities for the hospitals in the Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust.
Angela’s mother, Joan Smith, was diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago and has successfully undergone a chemotherapy course and a mastectomy all while receiving, as described by Angela, ‘unwavering support’ from the team at Harrogate District Hospital. Of the care her mother received Angela said, ‘From the very first visit, the team were truly outstanding. Their kindness, professionalism, and support guided my mum through every step of her treatment’. Angela wanted to give something back to the hospital and to help others receive the same level of care and compassion that she had witnessed her mother receive.
Becca Collings, Project Co-ordinator at HHCC, thanked Angela and the Paver Foundation for the donation and added, ‘this contribution will have a lasting and meaningful impact on the services provided at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, helping us to continue delivering exceptional care to our community’.
