The Pavers Foundation has donated £2,000 to Goole Neuro Rehabilitation Centre, which offers specialised care to those living with neurological conditions or have gone through sever brain injuries. The Foundation donated the money on behalf of Rebecca Everitt, a Pavers colleague who applied through the employee-led, charitable giving scheme.
Rebecca’s partner, Mike Waterman was 39 years old when he suffered a life changing stroke in March 2024. After an initial stay in hospital, he was admitted to Goole Neurological Rehabilitation Centre, where for 10 weeks Mike went through specialise intensive therapy to help him learn how to walk and talk again. Rebecca states that there are still daily challenges but says that after going through the rehabilitation program Mike is now able to enjoy life again. She adds, ‘I cannot express how much it means to me and my family to be able to give something back to the rehabilitation centre. We are all so grateful to the Pavers Foundation for this opportunity to give a donation to the centre’.
The donation is going to be used to purchase a specialised supportive wheelchair for those who have lost the core strength to be able to sit upright on their own without support. This means patients can be safely taken out of bed and out into centre’s garden for fresh air and a change of scenery while allowing the users to slowly build their core strength back up.
Hannah Vaughan, Ward Manager, thanked Rebecca and the Pavers Foundation for the donation and the opportunity to purchase the specialised wheelchair, adding, ‘This donation will be imperative in ensuring to continue to deliver a high standard of rehabilitation to our patients, this generosity is greatly appreciated’.
