The Pavers Foundation has donated £1,000 to Boxing for Better, a Community Interest Company that offers a number of funded boxing programs across Wigan and Leigh. The Foundation donated the money on behalf of Sandra Robinson of Pavers Atherton.
Founded by David Morris in 2021, Boxing for Better has a vision to use the power of boxing to empower young people, transform communities and ultimately reduce crime. David wants to help adults and children from deprived areas and give them something to focus on, to help them build confidence, skill and discipline. Boxing for Better offers several programs including community sessions for 7 to 16 years olds, specialist 1-to-1 sessions for children and adults with additional needs, offender rehabilitation and free school holiday clubs.
On receiving the donation David said, “Boxing for Better wants to say a big thank you to the Pavers Foundation. The £1,000 donation will go towards our 1-year project at Hag Fold Community Centre. Without the support of organisations like the Pavers Foundation we wouldn't be able to continue supporting 100s of young people every year.”
On why she wanted to support Boxing for Better Sandra said, “I knew David through his late mum, he is a very dedicated and skilled youth worker who set up the organisation from scratch. The work that Boxing for Better do to help support the local community is absolutely fantastic.”
